BCA Bank recently held a meeting to discuss and announce several changes in the company’s leadership structure. The Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) held on Wednesday (12/3) resulted in important decisions, one of which was the appointment of Hendra Lembong as the sole candidate for President Director of BCA for the year 2025. Hendra Lembong, who had previously served as Vice President Director of BCA since 2022, alongside Jahja Setiaatmadja, is now set to take on the role of President Director.
Meanwhile, Jahja Setiaatmadja has been proposed to fill the position of Commissioner of BCA, replacing Djohan Emir Setijoso, who has officially resigned. This decision was confirmed through an official letter of summons issued by BCA. The letter stated that there have been changes in the composition of the Board of Commissioners and Directors, including the appointment of Jahja Setiaatmadja as President Commissioner and Gregory Hendra Lembong as President Director of BCA.
So, who is Hendra Lembong, the newly appointed leader at BCA? Here is a profile of him, sourced from various outlets. Gregory Hendra Lembong, the current President Director of BCA for 2025, was born in Jakarta on January 23, 1972. He is known as an experienced banker with an impressive track record in the financial industry. Despite his success in banking, Hendra Lembong’s educational background is actually in engineering. He pursued a degree at the University of Washington, USA, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
It was only at the master’s level that he began to deepen his knowledge of banking by enrolling in the Science in Engineering Economy System program at Stanford University. His career in the financial sector began in 1994 when he joined Citibank as a management trainee. After completing the program in 1998, he was appointed as the Regional Product Manager at Citibank Asia Pacific in Singapore.
He continued to climb the career ladder within the company, eventually being promoted to Regional Head of Channel (Trade Finance and SME) in Hong Kong. After six years at Citibank, he was transferred to London, UK, to serve as Director of Networking and Alliances for EMEA Cash Management. In 2009, after 15 years with Citibank, he moved to Deutsche Bank London as Head of Business Development & COO Trade Finance and Corporate Cash Management.
In August 2013, Hendra Lembong returned to Indonesia and joined PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk. He quickly rose through the ranks, serving as Chief of Transaction Banking from 2013 to 2018, CEO of Transaction Banking CIMB Group Malaysia and Chief Fintech Officer CIMB from 2016 to 2018, before becoming Chief Transformation Officer CIMB Niaga in January 2019.
His career at BCA began when he joined as a Director, overseeing the development of PT Central Capital Ventura and PT Bank Digital BCA. In 2022, he was appointed as Vice President Director of BCA, supervising the performance of the Finance Director and Corporate Planning. Finally, during the AGM on Wednesday (12/3), Hendra Lembong was officially appointed as President Director of BCA, succeeding Jahja Setiaatmadja, who has transitioned to the position of President Commissioner of BCA.
