Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja’s mixed doubles journey at the BWF World Tour Super 1000 All England 2025 came to an end in the quarterfinals when they were defeated by the fifth-seeded Chinese pair Feng Yan Zhe/Wei Ya Xin in two straight games. Despite the loss, Rehan and Gloria expressed gratitude for their performance at the prestigious badminton tournament.
Rehan stated, “Alhamdulillah, firstly we are grateful to have completed today’s match, even though the result did not meet our expectations.” Gloria acknowledged that the match was emotional for her, mentioning, “I tried to fight against myself. After playing three weeks in a row, my condition naturally declined.” She added, “Reaching the quarterfinals was already good, but we should have done better. As humans, we cannot limit our own abilities. That’s why I struggled to control my emotions.”
The defeat means that Rehan and Gloria will have to postpone their hopes of winning a title in the 2025 season, following their runner-up finishes in the German Open 2025 and Orleans Masters 2025. However, they remain determined to bounce back and perform better in future tournaments.
Rehan shared their plans, saying, “Next week we still have a task at the Polish International Challenge. We want the best results, of course, we also want to win. Today we can be sad, but tomorrow we must return to training and focus on that tournament.” Meanwhile, Indonesia still has three representatives competing in the quarterfinals: women’s singles player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, and two men’s doubles pairs Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Leo Rorry Carnando/Bagas Maulana.
Gregoria will face a tough challenge against the fourth-seeded Chinese player Han Yue. Sabar/Reza will meet the Taiwanese pair Liu Kuang Heng/Yang Po Han, while Leo/Bagas will challenge the eighth-seeded Taiwanese duo Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan. The progress of the remaining Indonesian players will be closely watched as they aim to advance further in the tournament.
